In Spain, a unit of ship lading. See tonelada.

[Tonel] Medida usada antiguamente para regular la capacidad de una embarcacion : era algo mayor que la tonelada, pues diez TONELES hacian doce toneladas.

Measure formerly used to regulate the capacity of a vessel : It was slightly larger than a tonelada because ten tonels made twelve toneladas.
