megawatt: mega- (an SI prefix meaning 1 million) + watt, = 1,000,000 watts. Used without a period. A symbol in SI, the International System of Units.
In power plant engineering, MWe is the symbol for the power output as megawatts of electricity, and MWt or MWth is the symbol for the several times larger thermal output.
