In Denmark, a unit of length. The word also means pace or step. In the oldest measure, 1 skridt = 1 alen = 2 fod. By 1820, 1 skridt = 2¹⁄₃ fod = 28 tommer, about 73.2 centimeters.
The doppelt (doubled) or geometric skridt = 5 fod, about 1.57 meters.
