In Poland, a unit of length, = 3 łokcie = 6 stóp = 72 cale = 864 linie. Under the “nowopolskim” system of units established in 1818, 1 linia = 2 millimeters, so 1 sążeń = 1.728 meters (about 1.89 yards).

Earlier, the constitution of 1764 made the sążeń 1.786 meters (the sążeń staropolski).
