In Denmark, a unit of liquid capacity, Middle Ages – 1907, defined by the decrees of 1683 and 1698 as = ¹⁄₃₂ cubic fod. Plural, potter. From 1683 to 1835 (when the size of the fod was changed), about 0.9681 liters. From 1835 to 1907, about 0.9661 liters (2.04 U.S. liquid pints). Also called a krug.
In Norway, a unit of liquid capacity, = 1 liter (about 1.06 U.S. liquid quarts). Prior to metrication, the pot (also called the Danish pot or krug) was a unit of liquid or dry capacity, about 0.9661 liter.
In France, about 1.86 liters (about 1.97 U.S. liquid quarts).

In Switzerland, the Pot, 1.5 liters (about 1.36 U.S. liquid quarts).
In Belgium, two units, a unit of dry capacity = 1.5 liters, and a unit of liquid capacity, 0.5 liter.
Prior to metrication, the pot had a number of values in Belgium, depending on the beverage and the location.
