In Laos, 20ᵗʰ century, a unit of mass, = 12 kilograms. Literally, “ten thousand.” Other romanizations include mune and hmùùn1.
The mun is used by the Lao for measuring paddy, and is the contents of a standard basket (called kabung) which contains 20 liters or 12 kg of paddy.
