mun [Laotian]

In Laos, 20ᵗʰ century, a unit of mass, = 12 kilograms. Literally, “ten thousand.” opens a new page containing a chart that shows relationships between this unit and other units in its system Other romanizations include mune and hmùùn1.

The mun is used by the Lao for measuring paddy, and is the contents of a standard basket (called kabung) which contains 20 liters or 12 kg of paddy.
