In Italy, a unit of length, at present = 1 kilometer (about 0.621 mile).

Some 19ᵗʰ century values:

In the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, an ordinance of 6 April 1840, adopting a suggestion of de Rivera, made the miglio the average distance subtended by 1 minute of arc on the Earth's meridian, = 7000 palmi, or about 1.852 kilometers (a version of the nautical mile).
