fan gong li [Chinese 方公里]

In China, 20ᵗʰ century, a unit of area, = 1 square kilometer. link to a chart showing relationships between Chinese units of land area in the gon zhi system. This romanization is obsolete. In today's pinyin, a square kilometer would be rendered píngfāng gōnglǐ.
