In Cuba, 20ᵗʰ century, a unit of length, approximately 20.352 meters. (UN 1966) A square cordel, sometimes called a cordele, ¹/₃₂₄th of a caballería Cubana, is approximately 414.20 square meters.
In Paraguay, 20ᵗʰ century, approximately 69.88 meters. (UN 1966)
In Spain and Mexico, a unit of length used in land measure, = 50 varas (so in Mexico about 41.9 meters). Anciently the cordel is said to have been 69 varas, and this value was at one time used in Mexico to measure the cabellería.
