Notice that a cube 7.2 cm on a side has a volume of 373.248 cubic centimeters, while a cube whose side is 7.3 cm has a volume of 389.017 cubic centimeters. But, 1/8 of a ganta of 3 liters = 375 milliliters. An example, like the English gallon, of using the closest measurable numbers in setting the dimensions of a capacity standard.
