1. Foreigners in the open ports often referred to 100 kin as a picul.
2. Foreigners in the open ports often referred to a kin as a catty. In the 19ᵗʰ century foreign traders often considered the kin equal to the Chinese export catty, which was equivalent to 1¹⁄₃ pounds avoirdupois.
There is also a kin = 120 momme, used in certain trades, which appears to be a local approximation to the British imperial pound.
The ton was also in use in Japan, see ton.
