Picotines.

Cien Quarteras de Cataluña corresponden justamente à 128. Fanegas de Castilla, ò Marco de Avila.

The measures of the Principality of Cataluña are called quarteras, quartanes, and picotines: each quartera consists of 12 quartanes, and each quartan of 4 picotines.

One hundred quarteras of Cataluña are exactly equal to 128 Castillian fanegas, or standard of Avila.

The prototype kept in Avila was actually a media fanega.

The principal measure of wheat, barley, and seed of the Principality of Catalonia, is the quartera. This is divided into 12 cortes, which aresimlar to the almudes or celemines of other kingdoms. The quartera is a larger measure than the fanega of Castile, as much as twenty-eight percent, so that 100 quarteras of wheat in Barcelona make 128. Castellian fanegas: and in this case, a Barcelona wheat quartera is worth 15 9/25 Castellian celemíns : and in this respect, the cortan is worth 1 7/25 of Castellian celemin.
