cannella [Italian]

In Genoa, Italy, a unit of length, described in an official publication of 1877 as 2.9770 meters. The cannella was used for measuring areas and volumes; the canna was used for cloth.

In some communes, the cannella was an even 3 meters, still of 12 (adjusted) palmi.
