braça [Portuguese]

In the Cape Verde Islands, 20ᵗʰ century (UN 1966), a unit of length, approximately 2.20 meters (approximately 7.22 feet). According to Doursther (1840), it had the same value in Portugal in the 19ᵗʰ century. Link to chart comparing Portuguese units of length

The braça is one of the units based on the distance between the fingertips of outstretched arms, like the English fathom. Compare the Spanish braza.
