In Cannanore (the present-day Kannur, in the state of Kerala in India), 16ᵗʰ century, a unit of capacity = 16 canadas, about 22.40 liters. This unit was apparently only used in Cannanore.

The Portuguese occupied Cannanore from 1502 to 1663, and it is they who recorded this unit.
