In West Africa, ? – 19ᵗʰ century, a unit of mass equal to half a benda, about 31 grams. link to a chart showing relationships between West African units of mass for gold. Also spelled benda-affa, bend'afan. Besides having different forms in the different dialects of Akan, the Europeans romanized it in different ways.
