Welsh acre

The units of land area called the “Welsh acre” are easily confounded with other acres also in use in Wales, which included the Cornish acre, the Lancashire acre and the Staffordshire acre. Please see the sources reproduced in Davies and Owen on land measures of Wales.

= 3240 square yards, based on a pole of 13½ feet.

= 4320 square yards, based on an erw 36 feet wide. In Anglesey and Caernarvonshire, called a cyvar.
