ab- and stat-

Prefixes used, primarily in the United States, to distinguish electric and magnetic units in the centimeter-gram-second electromagnetic system of units from the corresponding units in the centimeter-gram-second electrostatic system of units. The names of the CGS electromagnetic units began with “ab-”; the names of the electrostatic units with “stat-”.
