ASTM International is a non-governmental organization devoted to developing standards for describing materials used in commerce. It was founded in 1892 as the American Society for Testing Materials, but its membership is now global. Clear explanations of the organization and its functions, as well as order forms for copies of a standard, can be found on its website, www.astm.org

ASTM standards can be purchased in the Store area of the ASTM web site. Using a credit card, you can download standards to your own computer, receive standards by fax or by traditional mail. The costs of standards vary with their length. Standards can also be purchased from ASTM by calling ASTM’s Customer Service Department at (610) 832–9585, Monday through Friday, 8AM-5PM Eastern Time.
