In Iceland, a unit of length corresponding to the Danish favn, about 1.88
meters. 
Like the English fathom, in original conception it is the distance between the fingertips of outstretched arms.
"Faðmur af brenni er 1/3 faðm3." A faðmur of sulfur is 1/3 of a cubic faðmur. ??
