In Spain, two units. After 1801:
In the province of Segovia, the square estadal was described in 1886 as being 3¾ varas on a side.1 In the province of Toledo, an estadal was the area of a square 3 2/3 Castillian varas on a side.

In Nicaragua, 11.28 square meters (about 13.49 square yards).
In Colombia, article 17 of a law of 12 October 1821 made the estadal = 5 varas, about 4.2 meters (the Castillian vara was then in use in Colombia). Article 3 of a law of 26 May 1853, again defined the estadal as 5 varas and said that as a unit of area it contained 25 square varas.
