In Egypt, a unit of land area, classical times – at least through the 15th century, according to Herodotus = 10,000 square cubits. The cubit in question is the sacred or royal cubit.

Schilbach estimates the aroura in Byzantine times at 2,523.34 square meters; Rathbone¹ at 2,760 sq. m and Doursther at 2,756 sq. m.
