Organization Internationale de Metrologie Legale (OIML)

The International Organization of Legal Metrology is an intergovernmental agency  established by treaty in 1955; its members are national governments. OIML, for example, defines standards for weights used in balances, and certifies a wide variety of measuring instruments. See their website at www.oiml.org
