Both the eyelet and ring type and the spur type of grommet are sized by the inner diameter of the grommet, which for practical purposes is the same as the diameter of the hole which is punched in the material into which the grommet is to be inserted.
The eyelet type is commonly available in sizes 00 to 8, and the spur type in sizes 0 to 6. Sizes as large as 15 have been made.
