A Scottish sporting event resembling the shot put, but using a stone 7¾ inches in diameter weighing 20 pounds. A run of 7 feet 6 inches is allowed; a foul is called if the body touches beyond the rear vertical surface of the toeboard. Three throws are made; the longest is the one that counts.
